1. Complete the Questionnaire
Complete cat behavior questionnaire in its entirety, including the home video tour (can be sent separately if needed). Please do not skip any portions! Even sections that do not seem relevant may be important.
2. Setup Appointment
Once received you will be contacted via phone or email to set up a consultation appointment. Consultations are offered worldwide.
3. Consultation
Ingrid will review all submitted materials, questionnaire, home video tour and medical records and explain why the behavior is occurring and how to best correct it. She will address anything and everything that can be improved upon to better your cat's life above and beyond the reason you initially reached out to her.
4. Homework Assignments
Ingrid will make specific recommendations and provide you with a behavior modification plan as well as supportive educational materials to help execute that plan. These will vary based on the circumstances, your cats, and your lifestyle.
5. Follow Up
Ingrid will continue to provide support and advice via phone or email for the period of time included with your consultation. You will have the opportunity to re-enroll at a lesser fee for additional time if you feel it is needed.
What to Expect During a Consultation
Ingrid will explain why the issues are occurring and will give you a behavior modification plan to solve the problem(s) as well as some literature about your cat’s specific issue(s). Your family is encouraged to ask questions and take notes, but the literature will act as a reminder of what you discuss during the consultation. Internet access at the time of the consult is helpful as she will likely direct you to visual aides while discussing certain behaviors and/or solutions to a specific behavior problem.
It’s important to note that you will only have success in treating your cat's behavior problem if your family is willing to implement the recommended plan and environmental changes. The more open-minded and willing to work on challenges you are, the more successful the behavior modification plan will be. The problem will rarely be solved by doing one single task.
Creating a successful behavior modification plan involves assessing your cat’s physical and mental state as well as the home environment. Ingrid may recommend that your cat visit the vet prior to the behavior consultation.
